How long does it take to wake up

I have taken antibotics for more than 50 years, and trusted that in some way they would be of some benefit. 

Finally a doctor had the insight to tell me that antibiotics would not do me any good.  And he pulled the PIC line out of my arm and cancelled the rest of the antibiotics. 

Then when I finally started to really depend on my immune system, I was able to see some progress in getting healed.  I finally started to seek for ways to strengthen my immume system and to do what I learned, then healing started slowely.

Eating Healthier For Your Pregnancy

Keep in mind now you are eating for two. Whatever you eat, the baby eats as well. In fact the baby actually takes precedence when something is lacking in your nutrition, so you should eat enough for both of you. The healthier you eat the better it is for the baby and for you. The baby can take nutrients and leave the mother without. It is important for you to provide every thing needed, and there are lots of different nutrients needed.

Do not miss meals while you are pregnant, especially breakfast. Breakfast is an important meal in the day and your baby has probably been waiting since he/she woke up in the middle of the night. You may learn that if you wait too long before eating you start to feel sick, this is your body telling you that there is something that is missing. There is something the baby and also you need. The baby will take nutrients from you even if you are deficient. So find out what it is you are deficient in. Your doctor should also recommend a good multivitamin multi-mineral to take; if he doesn’t, then ask. You especially need the B vitamins.

Make sure you are getting enough of the food you need. Vegetables and fruits have the minerals and other nutrients you need. The mineral that is most likely to be missing in most diets is magnesium. Magnesium can be found in fruits and vegetables, but has been stripped from most cereals and refined foods. Most packaged foods in a grocery store have been refined.

Many people have been warned to worry about calcium, but if a person eats enough vegetables and fruits they will have sufficient of all the minerals they need including calcium. This provides the baby with calcium, magnesium, and other minerals which the baby will need to develop healthy growing bones and a strong heart and brain.

Lots of green is always a good choice, so are sweet potatoes. Not only will you be giving your body what it needs but you’ll start to have more energy. Try laying off the sweets for a week and replace them with healthier items and see how alive you feel.

Foods to Avoid
Not all foods are safe during your pregnancy, there are a few things you should avoid eating:

- Certain fish- exotic, shark, swordfish, anything high in mercury.  Most small fish have lots less mercury, and it is very important to have omega-3 in your diet.  So do not be so afraid of fish that your do not get enough omega-3, and you can get omega-3 from flaxseed oils from plants, but it is very, very important that you do get omega-3 oil in your diet.

- Raw eggs

- Undercooked meats and lunch meats.  Also burned or blackened meats should be avoided.

- Caffeine and soda. If you find caffeine difficult to resist then you probably do have a problem. You need to wean yourself off. The less caffeine in your system the better it is for the baby.

If you are ever unsure of the foods you can’t eat you can ask your doctor for a list of items to avoid during pregnancy. He should be more than happy to share this with you.

You may also learn that your stomach won’t handle foods that it would before. Some of those foods may include foods that are harmful. Foods that contain the wrong kind of grease and oils, fast foods, meat.

Eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to cut out all the foods you enjoy. There are many foods you can find that taste even better than the junk food. Do not be afraid to find what tastes good to you. Do not try large amounts of new foods. Try small amounts at first, and even if you like it, do not “pig out” on it.

A short word about chocolate, Some mothers find that they crave chocolate when they are pregnant, and it could be a sign that they are deficient in magnesium or some other nutrient. If you eat chocolate be sure to get the healthy kind. Most chocolate contains too much sugar and also hydrogenated oils to make it taste smooth. That is not good for you or the baby. There is chocolate available that does not taste as sweet because it contains much less sugar, but is much healthier. It usually is labeled as 70% or 85% chocolate. You still get the chocolate, but not as many harmful ingrediants.

While you are making sure you get enough to eat during the day be sure you do not neglect your fluid intake. You’ll need lots of water and juices from here on out.

On the Juices, make sure they do not contain added sugar. Only get 100% juice. 100% juice costs slightly more because it does not have so much water and sugar added, but it is a better bargain. If it is only 30% juice you are paying a lot for less juice. It is not very smart to pay $1.50 a quart for water or sugar. 100% juice tastes lots better and the baby will thank you later.

Who knows, you may discover that you really enjoy eating healthier foods. And you may want to continue eating that way even after the pregnancy.

I personally find that it costs less to eat healthy foods. Even organic foods. I find that the foods are more satisfying so I eat less.

Sugar may not be poison, But

In studying physiology books to find why sugar is acid forming, and many fruits which contain sugar are not acid forming. You have to come to the conclusion that the acid - alkali balance, is just that, it is a balance. Refined sugar is refined sugar. All the minerals that are in the natural fruit have been taken out, to make refined sugar. The body uses minerals to balance or neutralize the acid in the body. The body takes calcium and magnesium from the bones to neutralize the acids formed when the digestion and metabolism in the body is completed. If we eat foods that have had the minerals removed then the body ends up more acid, and if there is a lack of minerals in the food we eat, then the body has to rob minerals from its store of minerals in the bones to remove the acid from the body. Or store the acid that it cannot neutralize in the fat cells.

That is the reason a person on a diet reaches a plateau where the fat just will not come off no matter how hard they try. There is a lack of minerals, and magnesium is the one mineral that has been stripped from processed breakfast cereals, bread, and of course refined sugar.  But has not been removed from whole grains and fresh fruits and vegetables.   Magnesium is the hardest mineral to find in our typical diet, because of processing.
Sugar may not be poison, but it is empty food. It does not have any vitamins, minerals, nor phytonutrients, nor any other nutrients. Just empty.

Calorie Theory

The popular theory of weight loss we often hear is “Calories in Calories Out’.

But that is not scientific according to the laws of chemistry, and physiology. And that is not the way the body works. Part of the reason for this error is that we fail to understand what a calorie really is and most of all we fail to realize that a calorie is weightless. It simply has a weight of nothing. No matter how many calories we pile up they will not tip the bathroom scale nor will they tip any scale for that matter. Calories is a way to measure heat. In other words a hot pan of water has more calories than a cold pan of water even though it may weigh the same. And if we turn that pan of water into steam, by adding more calories, that pan of water becomes weightless. At least it turns into steam and weighs the same as air, and joins the air. A person who wants to loose weight has to start thinking of what a calorie really is, and not be swayed by food industry advertising.

The food and medical industry has really encouraged us to think of calories as the evil ingredent in making us fat so that we do not feel good about ourselves. Our self image is tied to our body image. And now we are even being indoctrinated to realize that our health is also tied to our body size. And there is a lot of truth to that. But we seldom hear the phrase “Healthy Weight”, all we hear is “Weight Loss”. Healthy weight is what we really should be concerned with.

Fuel can be burned to produce calories. And that is how the calories in a food is measured, they burn the food to measure the heat produced. But if we want to control weight, we need to understand what a calorie really is and think about what is really happening in our bodies. After all what we really want to accomplish is to have better weight control and that translates to having better health.

What we really want to accomplish is to loose the excess fat. The fat is the bodies way to store excess fuel that the body cannot use right now. After all that is what we want to accomplish with our weight loss program, to get rid of the excess fat the body has stored. Let us start thinking about what we really want to have happen.

When we eat a calorie it has a special form in foods, and it is better to think of calories in the form of fuel. That is what the food is that puts on weight, it is fuel for the body. There are other things in food such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidents and other nutrients. But they are insignificant as far as what they weigh. We would be correct in thinking that they do not even tip the scales enough to notice. There is another thing that is significant in food, and that is fiber. However fiber can be burned into calories outside the body, but it cannot be burned into calories inside the body, it does not digest. So it cannot become stored as fat. And if we eat as much fiber as we should it would tip the scales enough to notice, but it would not become fat, it would help with digestion and then pass through and would not make us weigh more or become fat.

The fuel that we eat is in the form of carbohydrates, fat, and protein. and all three of these fuels consist mostly of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Protein also has nitrogen and sometimes sulfer atoms. The simplest of these molecules is sucrose, a carbohydrate, which has 6 carbon atoms, 12 hydrogen atoms, and 6 oxygen atoms. more complex sugars have more atoms, and fats are much more complex, and proteins are more complex still.

96% of the bodies weight consists of these four elements (atoms), carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen. Of course we are not mostly concerned with loosing protein, but we do want to loose the fat, fat is the excess fuel that the body stores. Sometimes a weight loss program looses mostly protein and that is seldom desireble. The body does not store but a very little carbohydrate, and that small amount of carbohydrate is easily used up quickly. The body stores excess fuel as fat.

Carbohydrates are easily converted to fats so that they can be stored, and fats are not so easily converted to carbohydrates. The body can burn fat for energy and heat, and it burns fat more efficiently. Some of the body cells prefer to burn fat and some prefer sugar.

Carbon and hydrogen can be burned to give off heat. The carbon combines with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide, and the hydrogen combines with oxygen to produce water (H2O). And that is where the calories come from, but the burned molicules remain and still weigh the same as they did before. Actually they weigh more after they are burned because they combine with oxygen when they are burned. The sugar molicule has 6 carbon atoms, 12 hydrogen atoms and 6 oxygen atoms. When they are burned they have to add oxygen, which comes from breathing. The sugar molicule becomes 6 carbon dioxide molicules (CO2) and 6 water molicules (H2O). They remain in a different chemical form as they were before they gave off their calories. And actually took on 12 oxygen molicules. The good news is that the body has a way to get rid of the products of combustion, but it helps if we understand how that happens, so we can help it happen.

The body breathes out the carbon dioxide, and sweats out the water. That is the way we loose weight. That is how the molicules that cause us to be heavy are put out of the body. Breathe and sweat. That is how it works, of course if we eat more than the body can handle or more than the body needs that is not good.

At this point I want to point out an exercise that is good. Thinking; The brain is the organ that uses more fuel than any other organ of the body, so when we are thinking we are burning fuel. The brain cannot get along without fuel (sugar) for even a very short period of time. We can easily see this when the brain is deprived of oxygen for even a few minutes. It stops and we are dead, the whole body is dead. Research has also shown that The brain cannot be deprived of sugar for even a short time. The liver has a store of glycogen that can be easily converted to sugar for the needs of the brain, and the body will convert fat to sugar for the needs of the brain, but the body cannot convert fat to sugar fast enough so the brain, to protect itself, will cause the body to crave sugar or other carbohydrate to get the blood sugar back up faster. So when the brain gets short on sugar it signals the bodys hungar feelings to eat more to supply the brain.

So thinking is one of the best exercises we can do to loose weight.

Now I want to talk about breath, and sweat.

Picture a person sitting in front of a TV. His breathing slows down and the TV programs are designed to do the thinking for you. And that person is often snacking. So that person is likely to add weight to his body. Almost the same thing is true for a person reading the newspaper. Sometimes a person reading the newspaper does some thinking, but the newspaper is also designed to do peoples thinking for them.

When a person walks, he is breathing harder and sometimes he sweats, so that person is more likely to decrease his weight at least for the time he is walking or exercising. When a person is sleeping, he usually starts breathing deeper, sometimes he sweats, and usually he does not eat, so most people loose weight while they are sleeping. Try an experiment to see if it is true that you loose weight while you sleep. Of course a person has plenty of chances to put the weight back on during the day.

When a person sits in front of a cooler he is loosing calories, because calories is heat. But unless he is sweating he is not loosing weight. Calories is heat, but heat is weightless. He usually looses water vapor in the breath he breathes out along with the carbon dioxide. So the deeper he breathes and the more he sweats the more weight he looses. But the more he cools down it does not do very much good as far as weight loss is concerned.

If his body burns fuel to replace the calories his body puts off then he will loose weight as fast as his body is able to get rid of the carbon dioxide and water that was a byproduct of his burning fuel to heat his body back up.

Lets think about bathing. A person can absorb water and minerals thru the skin while they bathe or a person can sweat while they bathe so bathing can either gain a person weight or loose a person weight.

Of course when a person eliminates waste products from the body they loose weight.

The real issue is how to become more healthy, and how to convert those fat molecules into heat and energy so that the body can get rid of them. After all it is the excess fat molecules we want to eliminate. And the fat has to be burned and converted to heat or energy by becoming carbon dioxide and water, and the carbon dioxide and water have to be eliminated from the body before the weight loss shows up. If we keep an excess supply of sugar, in the blood, all the time the body is not likely to metabolize the fat to produce heat and energy.  And the excess sugar will be turned into more  fat  so that it can be stored.  The body wants to have just the right amount of sugar in the blood.

Sometimes we do not let the blood have just the right amount of sugar, but the body does the best it can to control sugar with what ever we give it.

A big problem is to be able to eat a balance of nutrients all the time so that the right nutrients are in the blood. The nutrient level in our blood is what the brain senses to control hunger. Let us use an example of mixing a recipe and putting in twice as much sugar as the recipe calls for. Then in order to correct the problem we would need to add twice as much of all the other ingrediants. So even though our blood sugar level is high the brain may still be asking for other nutrients, and we may still be hungry. The brain senses the need for other nutrients. And if we are not sensetive to what the brain is really telling us we may try to satisfy our hunger with some of the foods we are in the habbit of eating. So we eat more sugar laden foods when what we need is more protein or more of the right kinds of fat, or nutritients, or even vitamins. So the problem only gets worse.

What we really need is to understand what the body is telling when we are hungry,and how much it wants. If we eat the wrong foods and nutrients the body still may not be satisfied, and will still cry out for more.

There has been lots of information going around, about using water or hydrogen to make cars more efficient. I love to understand science, chemistry, electricity, magnetism, and how things work. And I would like to be able to explain scientifically why hydroxy systems improve gas mileage on cars. Until I have more time and understanding I will just have to accept the fact that many people are getting improvement (large or small) on their cars. I can think of several ways that hydroxy generators could help cars run better. First off we do not design cars for best gas mileage. Right now that is old fashioned. The past few years companies could not sell many cars that were not overpowered. If we think back not too many years, we could buy cars that got 30 to 40 mpg or even better. but now if it is not an SUV or Big Truck it does not sell. It is not all that hard to improve gas mileage on a car that was not designed for gas mileage, So hydroxy gas just may improve efficiency of a poorly designed engine.

There is also the possibility of some fusion taking place. Fusion is the combining of two hydrogen molecules into a helium molecule. There does not have to be much fusion to come up with a lot of energy. So that is a possibility, and it could be tested by looking to see if any helium ends up as a by product. Now if very much fusion was happening it would not be a good thing, but that is not likely to happen.

There is however another possibility of how this works. The air is partly oxygen, however there is not nearly as much oxygen in the air as in years past. The engine uses the oxygen in the air as part of the combustion mixture in the engine. Although the engine computer controls the mixture quite well, still if there is more oxygen the engine runs better and should not have to compensate as much for lack of oxygen. So that is another possibility why engines get better gas mileage when a hydroxy generator is installed on a car. The hydroxy converter adds oxygen and hydrogen to the fuel mixture, causing the gas to be burned more completely.  We do not know the exact chemistry of combustion when the hydroxy gas is combined with the chemistry of the gas air mixture in the engine.  The oxygen may help the gas burn leaving out the hydrogen, or the hydrogen may burn creating water vapor.  We do know that water expands much greater than the combustion of the gas, creating much greater pressure and less heat, when water vapor is present.

We also know that steam engines were used for years, and were efficient enough to drive trains and steamships.  So water vapor is not that new.

I have not seen the science reports of why the hydroxy converter works for a car, however I have seen many reports that it does work. If it works that is most important. Don’t many people drive cars without fully understanding how they work.

It has been proved to us that most people are in love with the freedom that automobiles give us.  Henry Ford had the vision of our love affair with cars.  The price of gas has not made us stop using cars.  It has slowed us down a little bit, and it may dictate what we think is most important in cars, and may drastically alter the way cars are designed, but we still want the freedom that cars have given us.

How does the body burn fat

To put it in simple terms. The fat or sugar has to enter the cell where the cell can burn it producing hydrogen and carbon dioxide,and energy (as movement, heat, and other body functions). The hydrogen can combine with oxygen to produce water, which the body can use. The carbon dioxide has to enter the blood as a dissolved gas, and the blood transports it to the lungs, where it is breathed out. So breathing is an important way to loose weight. Much of weight loss comes out by breathing it out. The actual molecules mostly come out of the body through the lungs. Of course much comes out through the pores in the form of water or sweat.

Calories is a measure of heat. When a food is measured for calories it is burned in a calorimeter, and the calorie rating of a food is the amount of heat it produces when burned. An example of confusion is fiber. When fiber is burned in a calorimeter, it of course produces calories. Fiber does not make a person fat because it is not digested nor does it enter the blood stream, but it contains calories. So when a person eats fiber foods he does not necessarily become fat.

So calories is not a good measure of whether a food will make you fat. The poor quality of foods makes us fat.

Body metabolism is just not as simple as “calories in calories out”. Of course “calories count”, but there are good calories and bad calories. Some foods make a person fat easier than other foods, and I am not talking about low-fat diets nor reduced-fat diets nor low-calorie diets nor low carbohydrate diets nor high or low protein diets. There are good and bad proteins, good and bad fats, and good and bad carbohydrates. We really need to pay attention to the quality of foods we eat.

So why has the craze for low-fat foods not helped people to loose weight.

Calories is a measure of heat. The bodies temperature is close to 98 degrees, and that is a lot hotter than the temperature where most people feel comfortable, because the body wants to always be putting off heat. Or in other words the body wants to always be burning calories so that it has a way to regulate body temperature. Have you noticed that a fat person wants the air conditioning to be very cold, and a skinny person curls up in a corner to keep from getting too cold. That is because heat is calories. The fat person needs a high rate of metabolism, and the skinny person does not have the fat to burn.

Since calories is not a good measure of whether a food will make you fat, what is a good measure. I personally am striving to find the foods that are healthy. I believe that a healthy food will not make a person fat. And eating more healthy foods is what I am striving for. Whole books have been written listing what has been found to be super foods. I plan to post a list of what I consider super foods. I personally am not fat. And I do want to live to a ripe old age, and not have health problems. I do not want to have joint problems, nor heart problems, nor sugar problems.

My “Why”

This is my “why I want to write about nutrition and study about nutrition”. In fact it may be the whole purpose of this website. Many wars have been fought about freedom. There are always people with big ego’s, who want to feel like they have control over other people. Some see they can get control by having wars, some get control by controlling politics and by controlling money. Of course there are many other people with money, who try to use their money to do good.

I see a great powerful influence in the world of orginizations that want to use control by controlling peoples health. We still have the freedom of speech, and the internet is a powerful voice in the world. Propaganda is plentiful in the advertising world. With money lies and untruths can be propagated and advertised.

There is a lot of truth that needs to be known by the people.  “Know the truth and the truth shall make you free”.

So if I can help to be a voice for health, that is my “Why”.

Think and Grow Slim

It is hard to read and study about nutrition without finding lots of material about weight loss. And when you come across writers talking about weight loss, invariably they have to mention the calorie theory of weight loss. So it is worth noting something that is mostly overlooked about calories, and that is the enormous amount of calories (blood sugar) that the brain uses in thinking.
The brain uses more blood sugar than any other organ in the body. So one of the best exercises one can do to loose weight and burn calories, is to think. “Think and Grow Slim”. Just think about it.
